What We Can Learn From Ants

So I was just siting outside having my morning moments before the rest of the day starts… and I see all of these ants going back and forth along this trail… so busy doing what ants do…

And then I observe one lone ant coming in my direction, breaking away from the crowd, busy heading to new frontiers… and I watched and thought that she did look a bit lonely (it is when you are making new footprints and choosing to go on the road less traveled), but she did look purposeful and was moving quickly (maintain your enthusiasm when you find yourself out in front and daring to try something different)…

And then I watched the other group continue up and back on the same path… (safe with all the others around them… but routine and habitual perhaps), and then the lone ant headed back to the crowd and was busy going up and down the line of ants and I think she was saying… “Hey, we have been doing this track for a while now and doing the same thing, but I have just been over there and you should see what it is like… it is amazing and I really think that if we changed direction and headed over there it would be really great for us” (sometimes that is what you have to do when you have had the courage to find a new way of thinking, being, doing business or a new path… the next challenge is having the ‘leadership’ and ‘courage’ to inspire others to come along for the ride)…

And then it looked like there was chaos… ants walking around in circles and going crazy… (and that is about what happens when you challenge a team or a society to a new way of thinking or doing… everybody goes crazy and freaks out for awhile, because you are asking them to move out of that comfort zone)… and then you may feel lonely again… but keep on, the world needs some more brave lone ants out there seeking new frontiers and making there own footprints instead of walking in everybody else’s.

PS: Did I really just rave on about freaking ants for so long?? Well when it comes into my head I just feel the need to share! 😉 There are messages for us everywhere!
